The DGT notifies you of a penalty: plate number, date and time. Enter those three details and the system finds the contract that was in force, identifies the driver and generates the statement of defence, ready to print and file. And when the police ask who was driving each car on a specific day, the police list prints just as fast.

The manual process is a classic: dig through the filing cabinet to find who had the car that day, copy the contract details into a letter, and hope you don't mix up the customer. Twenty minutes per fine, if the contract turns up at the first attempt.
Here it takes two minutes: plate + date → contract found → statement printed. And the police list answers just as fast when the police are investigating: "Who was driving this car on the 14th?"
